Dr. Mohamud Mohamed Alasow

Deputy Rector for Student Affairs

Dr. Mohamoud Mohamed Alasso is the Deputy Rector for Student Affairs at SIMAD University in Mogadishu, Somalia, where he has served for almost 25 years. Over this period, he has held various senior leadership roles, including Deputy Rector for Administration and Finance, Deputy Rector for Planning and Institutional Development, and Deputy Rector for Student Affairs. He has also served as Director of the Research and Development Center, Director of the Postgraduate Center, and Head of the Information Technology Department.

He holds a Doctorate in Peace, Governance, and Development from the University for Peace (2019–2023), a Master of Business Administration from the University of Malaya, Malaysia (2006–2010), and a Bachelor of Engineering from the Military Technical College, Cairo, Egypt (1980–1986). His broad academic foundation has enabled him to guide institutional growth and promote academic performance with impact.

With over 21 years of teaching experience, Dr. Alasso has contributed significantly to knowledge dissemination across multiple disciplines at SIMAD University and other institutions. His academic and professional focus combines leadership, governance, institutional development, and digital transformation in higher education. Notably, he spearheaded the digitization of nearly 95% of SIMAD’s key directorates during his tenure as Deputy Rector for Institutional Development (2019–2024).

Dr. Alasso has received several awards in recognition of his outstanding service and leadership, including the Rector’s Award (2023), Longest Serving Employee Award (2019), Best Director Award (2014), and recognition for his contributions during the emergency relocation of SIMAD (2012) and in SIMAD’s Quality Control Report (2010).

He teaches Management Information systems, Research Methods and IT for Managers at Undergraduate and Postgraduate level.
